Hi
Just thought I'd give some feedback on how the Corbin bridle is working for my horse so far. A bit of history first - Since I got my mare Forte off the track 2 and a half years ago we've struggled like mad to get her working in a consistent frame. I've always been looking for reasons ie. Dental, body issues etc but once I'd ruled those out I became a bit despondent and eventually just put her into a Pelham. It was a great solution for a while, or so I thought. Her already somewhat "hard" mouth started to deaden even more and in a panic that's when I decided we'd try bitless. At first I thought oh my goodness, how on earth am I going to get her to work in a frame in this thing?!

But slowly over the last 2 weeks or so she has started learning to yield with the nose and bit pressure. We are currently working in the bit/noseband function but she is back in her bomber snaffle and seems to like it. Her first jumping session in the Corbin proved this! For the first time ever, she threw an incredible bascule over every jump, even slamming her wither into my chest at times. On landing, she would buck - displaying complete enthusiasm and pleasure.

She suddenly started to come into her jumps quietly and I no longer had to worry so much about accidentally touching her mouth and therefore causing her to hollow. WOW! My instructor and I are loving the bitless bridle and she's told me to keep going, not to give up, as we must develop my mare's muscles properly to carry herself so I am sticking to our 5-6 day per week training regime and hopefully I can give you some really good feedback at the end of this. We are also really impressed with the quality of the leather used for this bridle.

Christine

My mare is not an easy horse to ride! I endured many frustrating times when she completely avoided the bit by hollowing her back or charging forward on her forelegs.  At one point, I thought the stronger the bit, the more control I would have but it offered no improvement to my riding and it was often a battle of wills.  Together with the help of my instructor and the Corbin Combination Bridle, we were able to school my headstrong mare into an outline and got her to respect my leg and seat aids. She became far more relaxed and was able to settle into her own rhythm. The bridle allowed me to gradually change the bit to nose contact depending on my mare’s progress and my comfort level. It really feels amazing to move to the stage where my horse is now going bitless and respectful of my aids without having to use bit pressure.   I know I can always use the combination bridle without having to resort to full bit contact again but she is now much more accepting of my aids in the Corbin bitless bridle than she is in a normal bridle even if I use a rubber bit! The bridle has helped me turn a battle of wills into a working partnership.

My mare Lilly gets quite strong and excited when it comes to jumping. With a stronger bit she gets upset, and when going into a jump she occasionally throws her head. With the Corbin Combination Bridle (nose and bit application) she is much more relaxed and doesn’t get fussed when I do have to slow her down and bring her back. Her head stays settled and her rhythm is unaffected. She can now ride into the bridle confidently. I used to have difficulties with oxers where she would hesitate and add in a little extra stride, that now has disappeared.

For general flat schooling I can change the application onto more of a nose pressure and less bit, it is ideal. When I had her in a standard bridle and used only a bit she had developed tender redness on the corners of her mouth. That has disappeared and her mouth has been getting softer since using the combination bridle.

At 7, At 'em Amber retired from the race track five months ago. I have recently converted to the gentler Corbin Transitional Bridle and have found that not only has his responsiveness and sensitivity to my commands increased, but so too has his confidence both when schooling and hacking! At 'em Amber is a compelling example of how the Corbin Transitional Bridle enhances communication between horse and rider, no matter what level of schooling or pedigree.
